Day Tour to Valley of the Queens, Habu & Ramesseum

On this day trip to Luxor, you will be met by your tour guide then able to explore all the fascinating tourist attractions in the middle of the west bank including: Valley of the Queens: This magnificent necropolis, called Ta-set-Neferu (The Place of Beauty) during Egypt's new kingdom (1570-1050 BC), houses the tombs of the most beautiful and powerful queens of ancient Egypt, plus important mummies of the royal family. It holds over 75 tombs from the 18th, 19th, and 20th Dynasties, and as the Valley of the Kings, its exterior is unimpressive so as not to attract spoilers as well as tomb raiders. Habu Temple: As part of your day tour to Luxor, you will visit the temple that was called Djant where the sky opened and Amun appeared for the first time. The temple was built during the new kingdom (1570-1050 BC) by Hatshepsut and Tuthmosis III, and shortly thereafter, Ramses III built his larger temple. An entire temple complex, known as the pavilion gate, was designed to emulate an ancient Syrian fortified fortress and surrounded by a huge fortified enclosure wall. Additionally, it holds a canal that stretches along the Nile River and connects the temple with the Nile. Lunch will next be at a local restaurant in Luxor before you head to: Deir El-Medina: On the slopes of the Theban hills, west of the village is the graveyard of the royal workmen that dates from the 19th dynasty. Over time, some of the tombs became family burial ground for descendants of the original owners, with babies placed in baskets, boxes, pottery jars, and coffins in the lower levels, and adult mummies in the higher levels. Ramesseum Temple: The amazing Funerary Temple of Ramses II (1279-1213 BC), located on the west bank of the Nile in Luxor, was dedicated to the creator god Amun and to be the eternal resting place of Ramses the Great. In the Ramesseum are beautiful wall decorations depicting the battle of Kadesh, the Syrian Wars, and the Festival of Min. There is also a 57 ft (17m) seated statue of Ramses II in the temple.
